February 2010 Desktop Wallpaper and other business

Time really flies, whether you are having fun or not…This past month has gone before I could even know it had come! I have got some exciting stuff coming up and that’s giving the energy I need to get through some of the insane temperatures we’ve been experiencing of late (MINUS 33 with the windchill on Friday!!! ). Of note is my upcoming trip to Morocco in May. I will be going with a client of mine who will get a unique opportunity for some one-on-one teaching during the course of the trip as I will be scouting new locations for shoots and for upcoming photo tours in the coming years.  I also have some really cool stuff brewing, but I will talk about it in due time (sorry for being such a tease, but can’t quite discuss it right now). In any case, before I get carried away, below are the links to 3 sizes of desktop wallpapers for February. I figured that we already know that it is winter, so there really is no need to rub it in our faces even more with a wintery image. Instead, I picked a shot from the warmest place I could think of: Cuba! Si! This shot was taken on a beach in Cayo Guillermo at sunrise.

Next on the agenda is this cool project that my buddy Jay Goodrich started. This is a really cool project to celebrate legendary landscape photographer Ansel Adams while making a link with contemporary artists and photographers who keep the Art alive and well. In essence, Jay takes it upon himself to go out on February 20 and shoot for 12 straight hours, while only using his iPhone! Yes, you read it, his iPhone. So what’s so cool about this, say you? Here is where YOU come in. Jay is proposing that you be an integral part of this project in two ways. The first, is that Jay will be posting his whereabouts, Live, all day and YOU get to tell him where to go. Ain’t that cool, you get to influence art from a seat in your living room!  And if sitting in your living room doesn’t do it for you, you can join Jay and Co directly on his trek. If you want to know more about this project and would like to participate, check out Jay’s blog.

Please bear with me

OTTRIV0912-15

I just spent most of last week in Brussels for business. Now that I am back, I have barely had time to get anything done as work is in frenzy mode pretty much non-stop these days. So before I disappear again, I have a few things I’d like to share with you:

1- It is winter (in case you haven’t noticed), though a mild one I have to say, so I would like to remind you that I have a couple of posts to help with technical and inspirational issues for winter shooting. Check them out for a quick refresher on winter shooting: Click on the links to Part I and Part II.

2- I have had some pretty amazing experience with the Acratech folks dealing with their GP ballhead, I will be telling you all about it pretty soon, so please check back (I would say next Monday at the latest).

3- If you haven’t done so, please take a look at David DuChemin’s series of ebooks,  in a word: outstanding. Whether you are a noob or a seasoned vet, there is bits of info for all of you. The guy is an amazing photographer, teacher and writer, I highly recommend his stuff.

4- I am finalising details for an upcoming trip to Morocco to scout locations for a photo tour in the spring of 2011. Now I am not planning to give a full out workshop this year, but I have spotted some amazing locations. If anyone is interested in coming along for the ride, I am considering opening one or two spots for this year’s trip for a unique individualised experience. Please contact me if you are interested.

5- Last but not least, I will be shortly releasing some limited edition products featuring a few select images from my collection, stay tuned for some details coming very very soon in a theater (well, a computer) near you!
