November Winter

There is something that really just boggles my mind, and, despite having spent 5 years in this city, still doesn’t make much sense.

Every year, at just about the same time, the winter chill sets in the Ottawa air. You can feel it coming, fast, but, it isn’t quite cold yet, certainly not sustained cold. Yet, you drive 20-30 minutes north into the gatineau hills (that’s a pretty generous appellation if you want my opinion), and winter is actually ALREADY there. I wanted to take advantage of that this past week-end and try and get some frozen lakes before they fill up with snow. Well, the lake ain’t frozen just yet…but…SNOW IS EVERYWHERE!!! I just couldn’t believe it. It was just an inch or so, but  gee…it’s only the first week of November! It’s not supposed to stay yet.

  1. Younes this is beautiful. The snow contrasts the bark of the trees beautifully.

  2. Wow, Younes, that’s a really pretty seasonal shot. Very well done.

Thanks guys, I am really glad you like it. It’s one of those funny scenes where you walk around a place knowing that there is a shot but you just can’t see it. I looked around for quite a bit before it finally came together.

  5. Perry says:

Excellent shot. I like how the remaining leaves add just a tad of colour in the grey and white tones. Well seen and presented.

  6. JVL says:

They should have seen you ACTUALLY seeking out the shot – like Gollum waving his hands over the water to catch a fish – I sees it.

Please be the first, or second or, well you know, to leave a reply; I really really really appreciate it when you do
