Monthly Calendar and Desktop Wallpaper November 2009
As usual, this is the time for our monthly calendar and desktop wallpaper rendez-vous. This one is taken only a few miles away from my house as I rushed to catch an amazing sunset. Well, I never made it in time, but the residual light was very interesting and I took the opportunity to shoot some longer exposures.
Again, the image is available in 3 sizes. All you have to do is click on one of the following links to open the desired size, right-cllick on the image and select “set as desktop background”.
When the human mind just blows you away
Today’s post is a bit out in left field, but I came across something I simply just had to share. I am still giddy at how creative and beautiful this actually is. Definitely the sort of stuff that just keeps you wanting to get better and try harder. Just watch this video (and listen to the music, it’s pretty nice too)…
Canadian Arctic Cruise and Workshop
I have been holding out for this announcement for a little while, but I can finally make it. I am very pleased to annound that PhotoLife magazine has invited me to lead one of their exclusive workshops in the Canadian Arctic. This unique cruise will take us from Resolute Bay to Kuujjuaq down magnificent Baffin Island’s eastern coast from September 6-15, 2010. Not only will we be able to take advantage of the long days of the arctic summer and visit some unique landscapes and animal reserves but we may be able to see some incredible northern lights!
For more information, download the brochure here.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
Scrambled – Thank you for your patience
If you have been reading my blog over the last little while, you have probably noticed a few issues with the images not loading properly, or not at all…I have been the unfortunate victim of a hacker that has made a mess of my website and my web designer and myself are working hard to identify and hopefully fix this problem as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I would like to thank you for your continued support and patience through this “inconvenient” episode.
Cheers,
Younes
A sliver of light
As my workshop students and I were waiting for sunset last Sunday, the sky had all but covered up leaving mostly a dull, gray light behind us, without any trace of direct sunlight. As I always preach, you always have to be aware of your surroundings and even though you might know what you want to shoot, it’s always wise to look behind you from time to time. As I took a peak behind me I saw that a tiny sliver of light had managed to get through the loud cover and light up a tiny set of trees not too far from where we stood. My students couldn’t at first understand why I was yelling incomprehensible phrases while running around like a crazed man. Quickly though, they saw what I was desperately pointing at. The light didn’t stay there very long, so I didn’t have much time to play around and try different compositions.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this one.
