Reversing the curse
I found it! That’s it, the search is over.
Ok, let me backtrack, for the past year or so, I have come to believe that I have some sort of curse. I just can’t find good light anymore. I know, I know, you can make great images in any light, but come’on we all know that great light is what will put you over the top.
This curse was never more obvious than last week as I travelled around Washington state: I just couldn’t buy good light if my life depend on it! To make matters even worse, the day after I left, Jay Goodrich and Art Wolfe headed back to Rainier (without me of course), and guess what…light just materialised out of nowhere; the proof: HERE.
But my search has ended today, all I need is buy myself a llama or two…Ian Plant said it, and frankly I need to believe him.

Very nice – and there is nothing worse than wanted to do some photography and findind that there is no light to work in your favour
lol
Good laugh (at your expense).
Ive noticed some great light here though in the past few days with all this mixed up weather we have been getting. Nice red n orange skies… Im still waiting to get out and take advantage of it.
Stunning. I know what you mean about getting good light. As a painter, I sometimes am left having to create it. Not always easy. Nature does it best…
This is a cool picture..I really like the single tree standing alone for miles..
I’m not one for superstition when it comes to photography. While you’ve had a bad streak don’t put yourself in a mindset of being cursed. As soon as you do that you become your own worst enemy. There are always great photos to be had. It takes practice to recognize the opportunities. I make an effort to never end an outing without getting photos and experimenting in search of those opportunities.
Jim: don’t worry about superstition, not my cup of tea either. I really just thought it’d be funny to play around with Ian’s llama concept
