I flew into Washington state on Saturday morning. Wanna talk about a long day! Got up at 3:50 am to catch my 6am flight, landed in Seattle at 11:30 local time (14:30) and headed straight for the Palouse in Eastern Washington, a 6h drive away! After a tasty Indian meal in Spokane (!!! they even had Chana Samosas!), we headed for Steptoe Butte, which also enabled me to get intimate with Washington State police (as my $175 ticket attests). After missing most of that delightful late evening light, we were treated to a very nice sunset. I also got the opportunity to meet a fellow Nature Photographers Network member Mike Dawson. I finally made it to Pullman around 11pm. Couldn’t fall asleep, wake up call at 4 am for a sunrise shoot on the same butte! Frankly I am not even sure how I am writing these few words as my brain is clearly nowhere to be found at this time.
I will get a day of rest tomorrow before meeting Jay Goodrich and Art Wolfe for a little excursion down the coast (well that’s the plan at least). If I can’t catch you before next week, I hope you have a great one! (by the way, I am not sure how this image will turn out as I am not using a calibrated screen).

Wow, cruising the Coast w/ Art Wolfe… Sounds like a blast. Is this a tour or workshop? No need to say, but.. “Have fun!”
- Gary.
It’s neither, Gary. Art, Jay and I are just “buddies” going down the coast for a relaxed photo trip
(I just love the sound of that).
Wow, Too Cool!!! (read: envy) For all the time I spent w/Galen, there’s only a handful of top photographers I’d love to shoot with; incl. Art, David Muench, Tom Till, Carr Clifton, and a couple others. Cheers!
PS: Take a few drinking round the campfire photos for the blog.
Looks awesome. I’m jealous of your trip. Give my regards to Jay and Art. Both are great guys!
He he…I can’t wait, getting really antsy here
. I’ll pass on the message.
Sounds like a great trip and also great company, have a great time and may you get plenty of great photos
I am greatly admiring the colors you captured. Sounds like you worked hard for this great shot. A photographer’s life sure revolves around those few special hours.
Bo, it’s not so much that I worked hard, it was just a LOT of aggravation
