  1. Wow! How will you ever choose?! I love #338, 291, and 255!

  2. Neville says:

I like 290. Its really sharp looking.
My honest opinion on the others….
    347 – loses me
330 – Im not getting it
291 – is ok but doesnt fit
93 – works for a health product but not yours
338 – looks good but Im not sure if it would work
but Im just one person. Im sure they would appeal to others in different ways. :)
    Goodluck !!

These are all great. My top 3 are 105, 290, and the 338. Good luck choosing.

    Younes,

The ones I liked best were:

Sandman6665′s 346 (I think it looks elegant, but I’m not sure about how I like it in B&W)
    Guearyo’s 255 and 290 (290 with the white BG)
    Mona7′s 187 (top one)

    Good luck choosing!

    Sean

    Silut Mister…

Some cool stuff there… I was looking at 347 and thinking it would look better if the sun rays were curved and looked more like the iris of a lense…. or other combination of lens iris/sun/moon.

    Good luck

Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts…I just keep bouncing between a couple of designs but still need sometime to come up with a final decision. I will let you know as soon as I get there.

  7. Cool idea Younes. Logos are such a personal thing its hard for me to choose. What guidance did you give the designers taking part?

    • Younes says:

Thanks Jim. I realise that the choice will ultimately be personal, I am just trying to get a feel on how these designs are perceived.
On a separate thought, I have to say I am amazed at the quality of the work that was submitted through this contest. It certainly pays off having so many talented people working towards the same goal. To answer your question directly, below is a copy of the brief that I set up. Once designs were submitted, I gave specific instructions and guidance to each designer when the design showed some promise.

I’m looking for a logo design that I can use on my web site, on business stationery and promotional literature.
The logo design should convey, firstly, that I’m a professional photographer so I’d want to avoid an amateurish look. It should have a certain amount of “gravitas” and should be “classical” rather than “funky”. It should also give a sense of the places where I work so would perhaps include something that suggests concepts like “travel”, “adventure” or “outdoors”. Lastly, the logo should have a creative flourish, something that alludes to the creative nature of my business.

-The logo has to incorporate Younes Bounhar Photography
-It can be square or horizontal format
-it must be able to be scaled down as small as 70x70px yet be readable
-it has to be able to look good in black and white (for stationery for example)
      - the logo must be delivered in a vector format compatible with photoshop.
      - any font/design used must be free of licenses
      - PLEASE NO “handscript” fonts

      Design should be:

      * Elegant

      * Well-balanced

      • Very well written. In the past I’ve always worked with friends that are designers. Everyone is quite busy these days so this provides a very solid alternative. I’m looking forward to seeing which you choose. I concur that you have some tough choices ahead.

        • Younes says:

Thanks, I have to say I stole some of it from Gavin Gough’s brief :) (I hate reinventing the wheel ).
As for my choices, #31 has been the frontrunner from day 1, but the 255/290 combo is a very strong contender, and a popular one at that too. I still have a couple of weeks to make up my mind, but I am hoping to decide by week’s end.
