PHOTO OF THE MONTH, OCTOBER 2008
Well, they say better late than never, so here is the photo of the month. October has been extremely busy with work, travel as well as photo-related adventures, including my first photo workshop and two publications that came out this month. This picture was taken along the shore of Lac Leman in Geneva, just a few minutes away from my hotel. Stormy skies had dominated the area the entire day, but as dusk approached, the clouds started clearing. A two minute exposure was necessary to show cloud movements here. The pink hues in the clouds are due to light reflecting from the French side of the lake. Cars passing by in the street behind me, illuminated the little pier just enough to get the reddish glow.

Swiss Blitz
I had the opportunity to visit Geneva and Lausanne during a business trip last week. Shooting opportunities were few and far between, but I still managed to bring home a few “keepers”. Switzerland has a lot to offer to its visitors: historical buildings, great food, mountains and beautiful farmlands. For those visiting the country, I highly recommend the city of Lausanne and nearby Lavaux. The terrassed vines of Lavaux are a sight to behold.

First workshop completed

Well the fall colours were as vibrant this year as I have ever seen them setting the perfect stage for my first photographic workshop. I purposely limited the number of participants to four to allow for greater interaction and more one on one time. The first day was spent at the Eagle’s nest in Calabogie, where we were treated to some great light. We then gathered at the wee hours of the day the next morning for another fantastic shot at Meech lake. After a hearty breakfast we headed back to the Gatineaus to focus more on intimate and abstract compositions. Great fun was had by all. Stay tuned for upcoming workshops in the winter and spring.
Here are a few shots from the workshop.
